Hello Kabsat a sangsangpet, :-) let me have the priviledge nga mangbuniag kadaytoy nadaeg nga abong mo ading wenno Manong, :-) Agkaarruba ta laeng, adda ak la dita baba,:-) I had the warmest welcome from the great guys of blogendia when I was just starting a few months ago.. Let's just say that I am paying it forward, :-)

But anyway, the reality of it is that i have the same interest too.., i've written some songs (using a guitar for the melody) ket naragsakanak man nga nakakita itoy kabangbangon a mansyon mo, :-)

Anyway, will have to go now. Welcome to Blog City, :-)

Blessings,

Thanks for the warm welcome, Lj! I hope you can play some of my works with your guitar; the reality is that I neither learn how to play any Musical instrument, nor did I learn how to read a Musical note. I just learned how to create music, suddenly after numerous tries in the past, in 2004 when i got seriously sick. I used Computer sounds (digitized) from a techno song of my son ( who is the real musician) and tinker with the sounds to emulate how it is spoken or sung by an ilocano from the northernmost parts of ilocandia. You will probably agree with me that Ilocano is a languge of Sound effects! I guess i'm older than you at 64.

Arlane & Maricar,

Dispensarendak no saanak nga makaumay idiay pagtitipunan yo gapu ta agday-dialysis treatment ak every other day. Dakkel kuma nga gundaway ko nga ma-meet dagiti mannurat ken dumadaniw a kas kadakayo.

I'm a great fan of writers and poets because when I was young, I aspired to be one but failed because, as one editor said, "there's no feeling" in my work. I always bought Bannawag and Liwayway before and read them repeatedly from cover to cover. I tried to follow the footsteps of my uncle (Juan Cabreros Laya) who was an educator and author of many books. He helped the Tagalog writers when the language was still struggling to be recognized --- with his "Kayumanggi Press."

At least, nalakak nga aramiden, kas nakuna ni Rudy, bay-bay-an ti puso nga isu ti agaramid. I can discuss all the topics I want, the melody will bail me out when I do wrong with the Lyrics.

Hello Manong Tito (waaaa, Manong na, Tito pa! He he he). Warm welcome to iluko.com. May the most powerful Healer help you as you go through your dialysis treatments. I imagine it must be difficult… but with your music, things could become easier for you. Kas naduktalan dagiti siensia, music not just heals the soul, but also has a positive effect on the ailing body.

Be right back, folks…

Tito Nisperos Jr.
6/14/2007 11:31:12 PM

Thanks Sherma & Maricar,

Before going to bed so I can wake up early for the treatment tomorrow, I want to reiterate what I've said above that Music helped me postpone death and yes, music does wonders to the body and soul or spirit. in 2004, waking up in the morning and finding myself not dead yet, I just shrugged my shoulder saying, "... another day, another song to make ..." until I got a lot of Instrumental Music at my disposal. Now, my problem is to legitimize as songs those pieces of music by putting Lyrics on them all. if I have more years to spare, I might make it. Talking to you guys whom I think, talk like the guys (guys include gals) in the northermost parts Of Ilocandia with their musical accent --- helps me match correctly the "Melodies of 2004 to the Lyrics of 2007 and beyond." But maybe, I'm asking too much ...

Tito Nisperos Jr.

Thanks Leofina & Arlane,

You know when My 4 kids (2 girls, 2 boys) gave me a hat some years ago, I was so happy I almost cried. The hat said: "Five Star DAD." My vow to myself not to follow the footsteps of my father (who was very popular especially with girls) so I'll be true to my family and children paid off. I'm proud to tell the world I'm a real Father! Just like it says in my song: I "did not LOOK BACK at any other girl" which was hard to do because I myself was a likable fellow like my father.

Hi Maricar and Others,

The young guys might find these 2 song videos silly but during my time, it was hard to win the hand of a lady - it took years! I used to serve as chaperone (for the boy) when a friend courted a lady. The lady's parents, when he recognized me as "the son of Mr. Nisperos" always accepted us in their homes. I also used to write Love Letters my friends sent to their Loved ones.

I think I've been Blogging before there's a so called Blog in the internet. For 6 years from Dec 1996 to Nov 2002, i made a total of 1764 posts in a thread called "Applied Materials (AMAT)."

http://siliconinvestor.advfn.com/profile.aspx?userid=3246603

i discussed every subject i could think of --- Stocks options especially LEAPs, politics etc many times "just like talking to myself." I let out everything hiding from inside me and my co-threaders around the world understood. We helped each other in our investments in the Stock market and we made our millions out of it. But sadly in my case, i made my million but lost them all except for the money for 2 houses in the Philippines (one for me and one for my wife), cars for my children and of course for our livelihood.

Here's a song that touches this episode in my life. Did you know that the toy called yo-yo was first introduced by an Ilocano named Flores in the U.S. and the entire world during the early 1900's? I suspest the name yo-yo was just the inverted "oy-oy" in Ilocano meaning "lowering of a rope or something else."

How to create music? Simple. I pick out a phrase in Ilocano like "Papanam Ading ..." repeatedly uttering them mimicking the accent by my cousin from San Fernando or by my friend from Narvacan, exagerating it until I can extract the Music. You know the Ilocano language is a language of Sound Effects. In English, the word "ring" is overused like in ring of the bell, ring of the telephone etc. in Ilocano each sound has its specific use like in batingting, batangtang, kulintampang, etc, etc. So, all my songs have exagerated Ilocano accents in them.

Also to you Sherma and to all of you Guys, keep on writing. I've been silently visiting your "abongs" and have been enjoying your writings. I don't know but it seems I'm the only old guy left looking for a place under the sun. I admire writers so much that when I was young, I spent most of my hours reading. Even on nights before my "exams," I still read Short Stories or Novels! I only stopped reading when I learned how to trade in the Stock Market, that is when my interest shifted to just making money.

Established SongWriters say using a Poem in a Song won't work. The result is some sort of a Robotic rendition of a song. A Blah and a Blah is okay as long as the song paves the way for the singer to even Shout all his might to demonstrate his vocal ranges to the delight of his listeners.

But I'm stubborn, i don't easily follow established rules and conventions. i insist on creating my own. My son who is the true musician in the family (specializing in Techno and Video Game music who did a concert in New York and 2 concerts in Japan just 2 weeks ago) said that i don't follow good Composing practices by not using Chords. Well, i tried but my music became Lifeless, no Feeling - it sounds like a copy cat of someone else work.

So what i do to have more sense in my Lyrics is to use a Simple poem - employ the simplest words possible to approximately fit the song. Not exactly fit, so as to have a feeling that a human being and not a computer is performing. i intentionally hasten or delay things in the song to be more humanly natural.

This song may not have a Poem in it but i just want my intentions in creating songs be known.

My friend Arthur, whose fingers are bulging at the tip, died of heart Disease. Years before he died, i entered into a pact with him that whoever die first will inform the other where he went. In Heaven, Hell, Purgatory or anywhere else, the first to go should not just give a sign but hold the neck of the other, shook him and Shout, "i'm here!" Arthur didn't like the idea of holding ones neck so as an alternative, I suggested to him I'll just tickle him on his feet. He died first so i have been expecting him to grab me on the neck.

On Jan 25, 2004, I remembered him and quickly made an instrumental in his honor.

In november of that year, i was hospitalized because of Heart attack or mild stroke compounded with kidney failure, I thought I saw Arthur lying beside me on my hospital bed. i immediately grab his body for fear he was going to disappear without talking to me. But he was gone!

This year, I made the Lyrics of his song. I can't believe what i heard. The Music was unlike the rest of the Instrumentals I've made. I shuddered at the thought of something eerie. Where did I get the background sounds? Maybe I'm just imagining things ...

Hey Manong Tito! How are you?

The things we've created, or we've come to possess, are meaningful not so much because of their monetary value but because of the meanings we ascribe to them, and of the memories that are evoked in us whenever we see them.

In themselves, the songs you've created are beautiful, but they are more beautiful because of the memories you have of their creation... your inspirations, your driving force.

I enjoy reading how you've come to create each of your songs. Keep sharing.

Sherma,

First of all, I want you to know that I enjoyed reading your Poems, The one that came out yesterday was so well written that it's easy to read and understand. In all your Poems, I like the way you use just a few words to assemble your thoughts. In my case in making the Lyrics of a song, I have to make use of a little number of words to achieve the "Feeling" or mode.

Thanks for appreciating my work. You know I do commentaries so the one reading might learn something useful. Also these little stories might someday be used as materials for future songs.

The Lyrics and Music of this song was done during the early 1960's during my college days, noong panahon ng Ligawan. Putting Narrations on songs were common in those days. I never learned how to read and write Musical notes so there was no hard print of this song. I only sang it by myself and many of those who heard it would say the music was very nice but the Lyrics were a bit Silly. Only in 2004 did I finally played it using Sound Effects generated first by my Amiga Computer (in 1999) then transfered to a PC.

Thank you, Manong…

It’s only lately that I learned to appreciate poetry. Been writing since I was a kid (mostly prose, though there were some poem-like pieces I’ve come up with), but I’m not a real writer; just pretending. Ha ha ha!

Actually, my work is a trial-and-error, hit-and-miss thing. But I don’t mind. The truth is it’s not coming up with an excellent piece that gives me the high… it’s the process that I enjoy. Like you know, I enjoy it when agar-arikapak, not knowing which way to turn, and trusting only my instincts… and then — voila — I’ve come out with something! Whether that something is good or not (by readers’ standard), I really don’t mind. When I read my works, it’s not just the words that I see, but also my mood, my thoughts and feelings when I created them… so each of them is special for me. But when others also appreciate it, well, it’s bonus for me.

That’s also why I like your narratives about your music, because I don’t only hear the melody, but also feel as if I was there, silently watching you, when you created them.

Now, you got me feel like wanting to share too. Let me paste here my posts in my blog (www.cickedangel.blogspot.com) to give you a glimpse of my mood and feelings when I wrote the poem:

(i)
“the other more prominent figures — the smiling moon and the twinkling stars — get all the attention…

… without us realizing that they wouldn’t be as mysterious and as romantic without that which we often label as an insignificant element of the great Painter’s masterpiece — the backdrop.

_______

(ii)

“Sometimes I pity the night…

We often neglect its beauty, and equate it with unflattering things like crimes, treachery, sadness…

…but doesn’t the night also give us peace as we sleep?”

______

(iii)

I wish I can hold the night in my bosom... and hug him as he weeps for all the injustices done to him... and help him let go of his fears. I'll fight off the ghosts that walk through him, in him... and let him know that I see beauty in his darkness."

Both poems I dedicated to the night as we know it (the real night) and to MY night — the one who is on the “night shift” and who is awake while I sleep, looking after me in his own way (we are in different time zones).

Manong, I just re-read my posts in your blog and I saw some errors (grammatical). Sowi...

Tito Nisperos Jr.
7/13/2007 12:26:38 PM

Sherma,

The error was in the address of the Blog you posted. instead of "... cickedangel ..." or "... wickedangel ..." it should have been "...dwickedangel ..." Many tries, I was directed each time to a Lass named Tiffany. When I found your Blog I was surprised to see lots of stuff in there - will take a lot of time to read them all. Anyway, after reading some, I enjoyed them and glad to find out you and I have many ideas in common. I know I'm going to learn from you many things I didn't think before but should be learning. I see you are a prolific writer, the likes of Joe Quirino, Rudy etc.

Hey, I also have fun figuring out about Contrasting things like Light and Darkness, Good and Bad, Beautiful and Ugly (how do we know one is beautiful if we don't know what is ugly, sort of things like that). One does not exist without the other.

About sharing, I learned how to share after studying and finally figuring out how to make lots of money quickly through Stocks Options called LEAPS (long term options), by starting little like a thousand. I told myself, what would I lose if I share my secrets to others. So I did told my secrets in the "Formerly Applied Materials" thread (http://siliconinvestor.advfn.com/profile.aspx?userid=3246603). The only favor I asked of my co-threaders around the world is that if they meet a Filipino anywhere around the world and that Filipino did not harm them, just "... take it easy with him ... He is working hard to earn a living ..." Based on their Emails, many of them made a lot of money by following my advice. So, sharing my songs around the world does not impoverished me, so why not? One more thing we are in common Sherma (and a lot of people here do that) is that we express our creativeness not necessarily because of rewards but because we love doing them.

My Music is a combination of Filipino-Ilocano-American Country or Filocan. I like American Country Music very much because I admire the Cowboys and Pioneers who left their homelands to seek better opportunities and better lives in other lands. Adventurous and hardworking, they are like the Ilocanos, the tribe whom I belong to. My grandparents from my father side came from San Fernando and my mother side from Narvacan and they settled in San Manuel, Pangasinan (where San Roque Dam , the biggest Dam in Asia is located). My close relatives and townmates are pioneers and scattered in various parts of the world, many of them in the Bay Area where I'm at present located. I myself is a Pioneer.

I love the original compositions of Hank Williams (Sr.) such as "Cold, cold Heart," "Your Cheatin' Heart" and others. I love his voice and that of Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Charley Pride, Ray Charles (Blues) and others singing the Old Style Country music. My Music is greatly influenced by that style of music because I lalso like to tell stories.

There was a Doctor who brought his Mistress to live with him and his wife and three kids. The wife got sick and after a number of days she died. While her body was still being viewed inside the house (during those days, we don't bring a dead body to a Funeral Parlor but have the services held at home), the Husband and Mistress were being married by a Judge inside the Municipal building - just a stone's throw away. The Husband and his new Wife soon left and the three kids lived with the sister of their mother who decided not to get married so she could concentrate in raising up the young kids.

The Husband and the dead wife were good friends of my parents so i knew them well. The Husband was our family doctor who saved my life when i accidentally drank a gulp or two of Kerosine from a bottle I thought was my drinking bottle.

It was a tragic story that left a deep imprint in my heart. Why did it have to happened, I don't know and I can't pinpoint where the blame is. But I remembered during those days in August 2004 during those times that was near death making those Music. During that month, I've composed those very "heartfelt" Music, one of which you are about to hear. This Music was one of three songs made Aug 1, 2004. The Lyrics is a different story, a translation of an ilocano song i uploaded here recently. i just love the music and like to hear it repeatedly.

Hi Lj,

Nice to see you here!

When i retired at 62, that was 2 years ago, i thought 'that's it" I'll rest all day all my life. But Life is all Motion, we all are on the move by our own or being moved by another - like all of us riding on our Spaceship called the Earth. And inside us are smaller Life Forms also on the move. We don't really rest until we die.

We acquired Life through no choice of our own and once we got it, we cling to it and don't want to give it up. So, we are in the business of prolonging Life. Like me for instance, my Kidneys don't do their work anymore to clean up my body of toxic matters. So i have to undergo Kidney Dialysis treatments MWF, three times a week to keep me alive.

At around 6 in the morning, the nurses hook up 2 needles on my left arm - the lower needle extracts 1/4 cup of my blood, feed it to the Dialysis machine (stands like a small refrigerator but half as thin) which serves as my artificial kidney, cleans the blood then returns the blood to my body through the upper needle also on my left arm. The procedure goes for 3 hours with my Blood pressure being monitored through a contraption that squeezes my upper right arm every 15 minutes. The machine removes from 3 to 4 kilos of water/impurities from my blood after 3 hours of treatment. Well, what can I do, anyway most of the nurses are Filipinos who may not smile physically but their voices "smile' at you. They are tops in caring.

To further keep me alive, i take 15 different kinds of medications/pills once, twice or three times a day. They take care of Heart, kidney, High Blood pressure, High Cholesterol, diabetes etc- i think i got all the sickness in the word, name it.

So what i can advise to others is not to get fat. They should not give too much food to those harmful life forms inside their bodies. If they get fat, they should exercise always to avoid getting Diabetes - because once they get it, heart, kidney, blindness and other maladies will follow and haunt them for life.

You are always welcome here. You have very interesting ideas we can benefit from. Aside from writing Prose and Poetry, SongWriting/Composing - you are also a Videographer! Double WoW to you!

Hello Manong Tito,:-) my prayers that all is well with you. I could honestly say that I could somehow know how you feel...As I have been struggling with almost the same kind of "challenge"...

When sentimental moments take my weakness, I would try to focus on the fact that my its only my physical self that is undergoing an "extra-challenge"; my mind and spirit is still working good and therefore, I am free to make live through these.. I've learned long before that we could stir the sail of our emotions and outlooks the way we want to.. no matter what kind of limitations might be there to somehow hinder us, we could choose wether to focus on the speck, or on the bigger things in life that could allow us to somehow feel alive..

Please continue to do the things that could make you smile; that could uplift your spirit; always look for that sunshine that could over power the fog of pain and endurance if they seem to threaten your spirit. :-) Like I always tell myself at my challenging times,... "smile always".:-)

Thank you so much for your appreciative ways...It warms my heart and somehow reminds me that despite my own struggles, I still could do something worthwhile. :-)

Will be back again Manong, :-) Bless you!

Thanks for your comforting words. I don't know what is troubling you physically but I'm glad you could forget it through your own creativity. I just finished watching your videos early this morning (here) and I they are great!

Speaking of Creativity, I think I'm more creative when I'm more sick. I was able to create 1 to 6 pieces of music a day in agony way back in 2004. I tried but I can't do that anymore. I can't even revise or add to my collections anymore. Maybe because I'm better physically this time that there's no need for me to strive harder. Anyway I have more than enough melody to use for my SongWriting work.

Actually while my left arm was hooked up to the dialysis machine, I managed to do typing and mouse work with my right arm using a laptop. I forgot about those pains when I continue working on the Lyrics started at home - right there while being treated in the Dialysis room of about 20 patients. Yeah, I think I've learned not to mind pain so much anymore because I can concentrate on some creative work.

LJ,

I like my Song not to be easily forgotten, so I inject some kind of twist at the end that is oftentimes Humorous. Even if it turns out to be Corny, the listener could forgive me because as you said it right, ".... the romantic heart of each one of us would forever delight in "corni" stuff... :-)."

Hi LJ,

It's you not me, you pretty and lively girl, ang dapat kumustahin and have to slowdown. I always find you hopping from Blog to Blog even though you are ailing from some virus of some sort. The way you write now, there maybe one or none who could pace with you in producing writings here right now. On second thought, I think I'm also more productive when I'm sort of sick and in pain. Don't worry about me because they clean my blood every other day and I take a lot of medications (15 different kinds of them every day) that harmful viruses have no chance of homesteading and settling inside my body. As for pain, the pain from the needles last for maybe 2 or more minutes and then they just become memories that I soon forget - till the next needle pain again. Anyway, we all live on and off pain everyday, even when we exercise we experience some sort of pain. Furthermore, we feel pain in our stomachs because that's the way the tiny life forms inside signal us that they need food so as to perform their jobs efficiently. Maybe i could write a song saying, "... pain, pain go away ... come again another day ..."

As usual, I enjoy your writings. Please do visit this old man from time to time.

My son teased me yesterday, "Good job dad, you finally remember your wedding anniversary even one day in advance!" in which i quickly retorted, "Your Mom reminded me this morning, so I'll remember it tomorrow."

Thirty one years ago today I got married to a townmate who was working in England as a seamstress and visiting her relatives here in California. In so doing, i forgot i promised my friend that I'll marry her nurse sister-in-law who has a tourist visa and also forgot that I have committed myself to marrying a girl from somewhere near Los Angeles who was a friend of my nephew. All because of this one girl who I didn't even took a second look on her whenever I saw her in my town before.

There was some mix-up during the birthday party of a niece. I saw a pretty girl seated near the girl from England and I mentioned it to a nephew I met after many years - that the girl is very attractive. My nephew mumbled something I did not understand. Then a friend nearby overheard me and believing that the girl I was attracted to was the girl from England who happened to be his sister-in-law, he asked me if I'm interested in her. Well, I said yes just to say something. My friend quickly informed his relatives in the party that I'm interested in their girl. Then one by one, all of them approached me, between my frequent sips of whiskey, convincing me to marry the girl from England before she returned home. Later I learned that the girl I was initially interested to was the wife of my nephew I was talking to in the first place! See, how Fortune deal the cards!

On thing I remembered though was that one day way back in the Philippines when I was helping my close friend and cousin who was a doctor doing house calls on his patients, I met the mother of the girl from England in their house. Her mother was so interested in me, I supposed, that she just stared and stared at me many many times that I was so uneasy I couldn't look back. Did she have a premonition of what will happen in the future - that someday I will marry her daughter? I never found the answer to that because she died a few years later.

I was thinking before that whenever I get married, I would get someone from the Philippines, an ilocana, simple, loves to do housework while i go out and work - those qualifications I found on her. After 18 days of arrival from England, we got married by a Judge. I didn't spend anything except for the wedding/engagement rings. Her relatives, some of them my own relatives donated all the foods and everything needed for the wedding. After 3 years of marriage and when our second child was to be baptized, the priest insisted in marrying us first inside the church. The priest quickly married us on that same day we were applying for a baptism permit - my sister-n-law and a white guy decorating inside the church at that time, stood as witnesses or sponsors to the church wedding.

This song you are about to see/hear is true. My viewers in "eSnips" also like this song. I can't help playing it over and over again. Even if we did not love each other, we somehow managed to make our marriage work for 31 years now and counting.

We are captives of fate. But we can make Fate a Fortune if we can avoid fulfilling an impending Fate. The Ants for example learn how to predict the weather, not only the natural weather but the Flood being caused by the wife of the house who regularly waters her plants in the backyard where the Ants live. The Ants know when it's time to evacuate into the house until the water subsides in the backyard. Likewise, we who live at the foot of an active volcano, will have the Fortune of not being harmed by the volcano if we go live somewhere else.

Hi LJ,

There is a problem that we can not solve outright but because we don't think too much about it - it doesn't do much harm to us. Sometimes, a mild problem that crops up causes to fade away the previous one. So, it's better to take it easy, a solution could come up anytime without even us knowing it.

You are more than a Cover Girl. A Cover Girl is like a fashion model who is not supposed to smile so her smile won't outshine the dress, or jewelry she is showcasing. The Cover Girl of a magazine is there to attract the reader to buy the magazine so oftentimes she doesn't display her sweet smile but her "sexiness."

In your pictures, your smile is simple but natural and it shows sureness in your part. You remind me of my 2 daughters, ages 30 and 24, who are also good looking like you. Their faces were a favorite subject in my digital painting exercises some years ago ( sometimes, had fun "disfiguring" them to have some laughs when I showed them).

She had so much faith in herself to fight her way out of her sickness that she is still alive after eleven years and counting - just taking Zantac tablets (a pain releiver regularly being sent by a cousin from here in California). As for me, I have many close encounters with death but I'm still alive although my life is just being prolonged by the advances of Medicine.

During the times of Mozart and Beethoven and of our Forefathers in all the Races and Tribes all over the world, the Sounds of Music they created were those of the Sounds of Nature like the sounds of: waves pounding the rocks on the seashore, water cascading down the waterfalls, birds twitting their loves, cows and goats mooing and baaing their love calls, etc. They created their Musical instruments that reproduce those nature sounds.

When I was a child during the 1940's and 1950's, they introduced instruments that imitated the sounds of silver wares and plates, sounds of gasoline drum containers and other things they used everyday.

Now, we are deluged with rings of the telephone mixing with the sounds of television commercials, screeching sounds of tires of cars outside, screams of mothers scolding their active children, sounds of video games, etc, etc.

Actually, Noise if used as a Motif and repeated and arranged in an orderly manner to make a pattern, is Music to the Ears. The Youth of today do not like the Music of yesteryears because they are not used to them; and likewise, we old folks shut our ears to Wild and "too noisy" music of today because we were not used to them when we were young.

The Sounds we hear when we were young are the Sounds of music we want to hear.

I hope they can find nothing serious in your ailment. Just be strong so you can fight your way out of this. As for me, the worst that can happen is if I contacted Hepatitis B through the Dialysis treatment. But if I can borrow another 5 to 8 years of my life - that would be great!

Hi LJ,

You are like the Weather that greatly influences the Life in the Blogs. You are undoubtedly the most friendly of all the most friendly (if i say it in Ilocano super-superlative) hopping from Blog to Blog. I wish more Power to you.

Speaking of the Weather - it dictates the way we live on earth. During Sep & Oct, we experience shifts in the weather as Earth the child plays farther away from her mother the Sun. The Hot air on the tropical places on earth like in the Philippines, Hawaii and Mexico becomes colder so that the remaining Hot air are being pushed up and away to colder places like China, Japan and to the USA and Canada (as we all know, hot air is lighter than cold air so a combination or interaction of both causes the winds, storms, hurricanes, tornados etc). So, while there are storms and floods in the Philippines, we have, at the same time, brushfires here in California.

Changes in the Weather creates greater activities on Life on earth. Many plants weather and die as the cold sets in. Animals and we humans get sick. Doctors and Nuses get busier, Hospitals and Parmaceutical companies get more Revenues this time around. Many life forms die and many who are more adaptable to colder weather, sprouts to life. Life goes on and on. The Individual dies after some time but the family it belongs to lives on forever.

Hi LJ,

Yeah, the Good Guys who could benefit us all with their Good deeds are the ones They take out early in this world. What can we do, that's the Will of our Creator, He must have a reason for it. Maybe the Good Guys are needed more somewhere else.

I'm happy and thankful for having known you. At this old age of mine, I still learned some more from a young girl like you. Just keep your spirits high, continue doing the Good things you do and everything would be fine.

I've mentioned about my kid sister next to me ( a nurse like my brother and two other sisters) who was diagnosed of having cancer somewhere in her stomach eleven years ago, but through her great faith in herself, she fought it out of her malady singlehandedly and now she is about to immigrate here in the USA (due to my petition) to join us - our mother, sisters and brothers. She refused to undergo operation because as she said, she didn't like to be cut up like she used to witness when she was still working as a nurse. Instead, she subjected herself to a number of Chemo-theraphies, lost her curly hairs for some time and then suddenly her hair grew back to full bloom and that was the start of her recovery.

I want to share a letter I sent to her when she was desperately clinging to life. I for one, excel in encouraging people to do their best in what they intend to do. The following is an unedited copy of my letter: ---

Dear Sister,

I received your letter on your Birthday, Jan 14; Belated happy Birthday! I’m so happy to know you are doing fine!…You know I was feeling guilty of not helping you more (because of my mis-fortune in the stock market), considering that I don’t even have the means to visit you in your times of need. On top of that, I was not even able to accompany Mamang on her way back home…

What I can say is keep fighting---actually your body (as well as every other living thing) is populated with Gazillions of tiny living things, some Nasty that are vent to destroy your body and the majority are Good guys that are protecting your body---all you have to do is to do all your best to lend support to the Good guys to win in their fight to keep your body alive…Will power to keep on fighting counts a lot!…I, myself with all the mis-fortunes in life would have been dead long time ago if I only quit fighting for that change for the better (I consider myself dead long time ago but managed to come back to life because I kept on fighting back to life)…I saw on TV an old lady who have been fighting for many years, being subjected to Chemotheraphy and all and she is still alive! and to all appearances have licked her malady…I don’t under-estimate what the Human Spirit can do!…Or,… Cornel might be right that your’s are just multiple Ulcers…that Doctors sometimes make mistakes in Diagnosis…

Let me tell you a story about myself:…you know, those with Diabetes remain diabetics for life…Oftentimes, they deteriorate (amputated legs and all)…I was diagnosed as a diabetic more than 10 years ago, I went to classes for the diabetics, did everything to avoid sugar---which is not fun to do. But something happened that changed my thinking of life---when I lost confidence in my doctor because one month he was telling me I didn’t need Insulin yet, and then the following month wondering why I was not taking Insulin. He was even asking me if I was taking personal blood samples for sugar, when he didn’t even prescribe one for me…(was he abreast of my medical history, or not)…Soon I got tired of things, I wanted to eat everything I wanted!…I was thinking, maybe he mis-diagnosed me despite what the Lab Tests are showing…What I did was quit seeing my doctor for more than 10 years, ate all the sweets in the world…If somebody else did what I did, he is long time amputated and dead---because I really got diabetes, the records don’t lie,… but somehow I managed to better and alive by the sheer power of my belief that nothing can harm me---not at that young age of mine anyway, that the Good guys in me were there in my body protecting the body where they live (like planet earth) and it was for their best interest to keep me alive---to keep the Nasty guys that gave me the Diabetes from destroying my body!…Now,… the Diabetes is in me again---it even caused me Double Vision for a month or two…This time, I’m still eating sweets but not too much anymore. I realized, my body is getting weaker of age and the Good guys in my body need my help the more this time to keep protecting my body and of course, keeping them alive in the process…

I got a good laugh when Mamang wrote that instead of her taking care of “Tessie”---“Tessie” is taking care of Mamang!…Just shows that you are doing OK!…Keep up with it, for the sake of your love ones!…

Regards to everybody, to Billy and your Kids!…

Your loving brother,
Tito

Mine is not too good because I'm gaining unneeded weight - 10 kilos since my first Dialysis treatment in Jan. That means the nurses' goal is to remove from my blood 5 kilos of water/toxic matter each treatment. It makes me beaten up, hungry ... its good I drive just a half mile back home.

Well, that's life for me, nothing new, I've suffered worse before but still alive. But this time, when Death gets near again, I'll give him a Good Fight he will never forget!

Hi Sherma & LJ,

Sherma, I visited your blog and watched your nice video. You are a good videographer like LJ. More of them, i hope, in your spare time.

LJ, it would have been great if i did not get seriously sick, would have been living in retirement in the Phil. by now. As a matter of fact, my wife and I both built 2 all concrete houses (where each families old houses stood before) because we intended to retire in the Phil. But now I can't leave the USA because I can't shoulder the cost of treatment (about $1,000 / treatment, 3 X a week) because Medicare and other insurance won't cover med expenses outside the USA. I could have personally met you. anyway, I already heard your voice in your video. I'm hard of hearing and have trouble communicating verbally, anyway. But still, I'll be honored if i meet you.

Joel was the subject of my many hours of study (with the help of the video camera) on how the body and mind of a child since infancy develops. I bombarded his ears with music of the 1940's, 1950's and country music mixed with sounds of today as part of my experiment. When he was able to stand up, he used to punch on the keyboard and mess with the mouse while i was busy trading stocks via the internet; and he used to reboot my system when i was not looking. He used to be in front of the video camera but later on, he learned how to operate the cameras himself and point them to everybody else. Here are some of his Video clips - some of them stolen shots.

Hi Sherma,

Glad to see you passing by. You seem to be very busy always. You know when young, I wanted Time to hurry up so I could grow faster. Now that I'm old and nearing death, I just wanted Time to go so slow that i could enjoy every minute, every second of the day.

I got lot of Home Videos (even have 8 mm films) with me always behind the cameras which i enjoy very much. This hobby of mine made me concentrate on my family all my married life making good my vow to myself not to follow the footstep of my father who hardly stayed at home but always in contact with friends and of course girls.

When i was half blind and wanted to exercise my eyes, i did some Editing of videos but got no more time when I concentrated on making the lyrics of my songs. Now that I'm running out of Topics to use for my songs, I thought of using my remaining Instrumental music as background music of some videos I made. i still have 800 music left and I might die anytime without sharing them.

Hi LJ,

I'm happy to see you back and kicking. Please do, take more rest from time to time. I'll be waiting to see/hear your original composition. Once you get the hang of it , the melodies will come to you effortlessly - kasla agubbog nga danum.

So the doctors added more "anges" for you to play with. Mine, I almost ran out of "anges", they provided me with an oxygen tank this morning. They wanted to extract more water from my blood as I gained weight again. The dietician wanted me to drink only 4 cups of water a day but how can i do that when I needed water even to take those 15 different tablets a day? Impossible!

We are both struggling to have more "anges," but we are both fighting our best to have some more and that's good enough.

Good afternoon, Sister, Manong Tito! Addaak manen, hehehehe.

Ei sis, sumarunoakto met dita ayanmo later. :-)

Hello Monong Tito. Hmm, yes, I am busy, but it’s the good kind of busy. Let me explain.

I am busy because even if I no longer report for work, I still do a lot of things. I still do interviews, research, and writing. This is because I am doing freelance work now.

But I am not toxic or stressed out, like I used to when I was still reporting for work. Unlike before, I no longer get affected when a writer doesn’t meet the deadline, if an ad pulls out, if someone doesn’t deliver, etc. That’s someone else’s job now, hehehe.

I am at a transition period from regular, fulltime work to non-fulltime, so I am at the adjustment phase. At the moment, I am trying to put some discipline into my system. Doing freelance is both easy and difficult. Easy because I no longer have to deal with office politics, supervise people, etc. But it’s also difficult because I need to come up with a healthy schedule, which is a challenge for me because I hate structures/routine. But I do know I have to develop some sort of structure somehow, otherwise I might not be able to finish anything (I might be spending more time doing things for pleasure, like reading and surfing, forgetting my other responsibilities, hehehehe!) And of course, in trying to discipline myself, I am also putting a restriction with my surfing (iluko.com, etc).

Moreover, when I do get to iluko.com, my brain’s already blank! What I often do ngamin is go to iluko.com when I am resting my mind from whatever I am doing, most often writing or researching. Of course, there are times nga iyun-unak ti makituttot, and that’s when I can write long posts. Like right now. Hehehehe…

Ei, Manong, I saw your video of your grandson's bday party. Thank you for sharing a bit of your loved ones to us.

Hi Sherma & LJ,

I probably have tasted that littuko you are talking about. The fruits available here are nothing compared to the number of fruits that are found in the Philippines. Over there during rainy season, there are also plenty of vegetables to eat; you don't even plant them - they just sprout to life in your backyard. There's plenty to eat there as long as you don't restrict yourself to overcrowded places like in Manila.

Ever wonder why Life is like this - all creatures, great and small, consume much of their time working looking for food; and in the case of humans - money to buy food and other necessities? Eat to Live so you can Live to Eat. At least, eating is one of the pleasures we have for being alive.

Sherma, you really have a very busy schedule. Anyway, you're still very young and you can work a lot of hours a day. Not until at around 40 years old would you feel your energy slowly going down, but not until you are nearing your 60's would you feel you have to slow down.

I myself was too busy with my work ( during the 1980's), working 57 hours a week including 17 hours of overtime (10 hours each day on weekdays and 8 hours on saturdays) aside from preparing stock market orders for my homebound wife to call for the broker to place and execute during those times when there were no on line trading yet. But my great pleasure was to make videos of my family, my children playing around during sundays. Time seems to have gone very fast, the children have grown up, sometimes I wonder where did the time go when they were growing up? But then when I replayed those many hours of videos I made (most of the time I was behind the camera), I can't help but smile and laugh. I just wish I can replay the clock and relive those happy moments of the past.

Hi isdadhome?,

I sympathize with you, many Dads including a friend and co-worker of mine work so hard that they forget they have wives and children who need their attention from time to time. Many pinoy parents go to work so their children live most of their childhood lives being attended by baby sitters. That's tough for the kids, i know because my wife stayed at home baby sitting my children while she took care of some baby settees also. I also found time baby sitting other children because I was always at home during my off hours. Those children are now grown up but they still remember us as kind of like their second parents.

We pinoys come here in the USA with just a suitcase or two with little or no pocket money at all. So, we have to strive harder to survive. We have to settle with a second hand car to save money for a down payment for a house. When we get our own house, a small old house as a start, we furnish them with second hand bed and furnitures through garage sales and through the kindness of relatives and other people. Because houses appreciates at least 100% within 10 years, then we have equities that we can borrow to finance a new car and move to a new and bigger house and lease the old house to others. All of these because we pinoys (especially Ilocanos) work hard (many work 16 hours holding 2 jobs).

Still, I agree with you, there should be a better way for one of the parents to stay at home while the kids are at home. The sad thing is that often, both parents are out working while their children are somewhere being taken cared of by others.

hello manong Tito, how are you?

Hi sis, isdadhome, :-)

i could relate to your scenario too, isdadhome.., my teenage years passed without my mother's presence. I could say thay i had been "literally alone" testing the waters of adulthood, under the stern eyes of my grannies. If I may say, find a little understanding in your heart.. Remember that it is not only you who feels that way, try to be in your paren'ts shoes.. I could say that maybe, they feel worse more than you do because parents are basically protective of their children. sometimes, they have to choose. So do we. It would be best if we became the wind beneath each other's wings (within the family, i mean).. in this way, we could at least make most of whatever is there for us... :-)

Hello Manong Tito. Yeah, my sched was indeed hectic, but not so now since I started going freelance early this month. Of course, there are other things I am putting into my sched, like reading, sleeping, and chatbabad with my sweetie (it takes most of my time, hehehe). I am also on self-tutorial with design and layout, and I am eyeing photography and videography. I am also thinking on an exercise program. No, am not thinking about going to the gym. Am just thinking of walking around UP and joining the group that does its exercise programs in QC Circle. But first, I need to teach myself to wake up early (kahit sa Sundays lang). Hehehe...

Hello, hello sister. Lemme hug you. Kumusta ti bakasion with your tita and pamangkins? Enjoy girl, and do spend time with those makukulits. It's fun no kua. That's what I also do when I am with my pamangkins and young cousins — agaw-awir!

Hi there, isdadhome? I agree with LJ. I believe it is also difficult for the parents to not be with their kids, to not watch their kids grow up, to not be able to spend quality time with them. I have friends who are OFWs and I just know how much their heart breaks everytime they leave their kids.

I cannot truly relate to your situation, but I do have my own story. Most of my young life, I spent with both Mom and Dad. Summers, I spent in the barrio with my grandparents and brothers and cousins. I remember, when my brothers and I were in gradeschool, both my parents would cancel work so they could both attend PTA meetings. And at the end of school year, during recognitions, my parents and grandparents would come to the stage with us and pin our ribbons or whatever. And whenever there were school activities, they would be there. Even my grandparents, who lived in the barrio, would come to the town proper to watch us. I remember my heart swelling everytime.

But of course, as a family, we also had our trials. And one of the main reasons was finances. My parents were hardworking, but somehow, somewhere we had a series of missteps. Wrong investments, wrong decisions, plus adda pay nangloko kadakami. Soon we had to sell our jeep at a very low price ta ipitennakamin ti bangko (ta diay ihulhulog da dad and mom, saan met gayam nga irem-remit tay ahente). We had to sue that person. Then my mom lost her job illegally, she had to sue the company. So I've eaten legal terms in highschool for dinner. Instead of having fun with my classmates, my brothers and I had to be home and do household chores. Then dad became very sick, he almost died. It took him more than two years to recover. We had two Christmases with Dad crying because he couldn't buy us gifts. For few years, it was just Mom working, selling pahulugan idiay palengke... while working out with her case sa company. There were times all we had was lugaw.

Then it was time for college, things seemed bleak. But I was adamant that I go to UP because it was my childhood dream and I passed the entrance test. And my brother was equally adamant to do architecture, because he knew he could do it. (We were classmates, so sabay kami nagcollge).

A neighbor even commented, "ania met daytoy a pamilian. Agdildildil da la ngarud iti asinen, pa UP UP ken archi-architecture da pay!"

I remember, it's only our tured ti nakem that kept us going, and to pull things through. Nailumlum kami iti utang. hings became worse idi ag-kolehio metten diay maikatlo a kabsatko. One time, while in college, while reviewing for my midterms, my landlord knocked on our door, demanding that I leave ta delayed'k a nagbayad iti upak. I begged him to give me time. He eventually relented, but I cried all night. It was such a wonder I passed the exams I took the following day.

Sorry, I did not mean to make you guys sob. Those things are behind me now. But not the lessons. Not the determination we had as a family, not the closeness that we developed. I am glad that amidst our adversities, we managed not to lose hope... hope that eventually led us to light.

Friend isdadhome?, if indeed you feel bad about not having your father all the time, try to look at the other side of the coin. And remember, we all have our challenges. We all have scars. Try not to feel so bad about your situation. And be the best you can be despite that your father is not always with you. And a nice talk with him might help too. Tell him how much you appreciate what he is doing, but maybe, it's time that he come home and spend time with you.

Sherma Benosa

Of course, I am not denying isdadhome's observations. They are so true. In many families, one or both parents are away.

And I would not want that to happen to my own family, when the time comes. In fact, it's one of the main reasons I decided to go freelance.

First reason is health. My job was very stressful, I am sure it would kill me if I stay much longer.

Second is family. My freelancing is in preparation for when I already have a family of my own. I would want to be able to work a little while being with my kids. And I am glad my fiance feels the same way too. He's planning to set up something here na lang so that he will also be there for the kids.

Hi LJ, Sherma & isdadhome?,

Living in the USA especially here in Silicon Valley/San Francisco Bay area is very expensive. If you are a Care Giver or Security Officer (unarmed security guard) who normally receives $10/hr, you can hardly afford to drive a car in a place where buses are just a few, what with about $200/mo car insurance + gasoline expenses + $500 rent for a room ( it's cheaper for a room in a house owned by a friend or relative) - could get a good chunk in your paycheck after taxes. So if you have with you a wife and a child, you are forced to work overtime or take another job assuming your wife has no job yet. The consolation is that here in the USA, if any of you get sick, Medi-cal is going to pay for you since your income is below the poverty line for a family of three. If you are Ilocanos who are paying a mortgage in your house, both of you husband and wife are forced to have double jobs and so you just let someone babysit your child. Why did you have to have a house? Because you are intelligent enough to know that the house you own helps you lower your taxes and it doubles in value (at least) every 10 years.

Sherma, so you are self teaching yourself (architectural?) layout design. Is your brother an Architect? I was registered as one (cert no. 3901 issued on May 18, 1973 in Manila) a year before I immigrated to the USA. And your pictures and videos of those plants and flowers (including bain-bain) and hills are a good start and I say they are well done for a starting videographer. Yeah, you need those libangan so you can enjoy free lancing more as you stay home with your family while working. You can enjoy taking/editing videos of your family like I enjoyed taking family videos of my own.

LJ, You are so upbeat these few days. And there seems to be 2 or more suitors after you now. In any case, I'm happy for you, you deserve all the happiness in the world.

Hello Manong Tito, hopw are you today? :-)

I love Stargazing beneath the full moon. When i was still in high school, i would sneak into our bubong in after my parents were fast asleep. Good thing the door to the terrace is just outside my bedroom door, would spent few hours just enjoying the magnificent view. all i could see was the vastnest of the sky, and it felt like i was floating in mid-air because i can't see anything more than the moon, stars, and the sky. Wonderful. So tranquil, and its like immersing with the magical view of a moonlit night. Hehe, now you made me reminisce about those good, old days. :-)

Hehehe, Manong Tito, those ka-berks are just so watil, Apong Kupido said that this virtual playground that we have is "kasabaan" and not the venue to be swayed with sweet words and implied affections. It may bring out some laugh and smiles, but it would be careless of me to believe it. :-) For all i know, these are my girlfriends playing treat or trick, hehehe. Anyhow, these are funny and witty souls.

I might have been born in the first century but my soul delights in the old ways, Manong. I am thrilled more to receive love letters, cards of sweet nothings, rather than phone calls, SMS, or whatever high tech way of courtship. I don't go out on dates, i still prefer tay mapasiar with my parents knowing, :-) Its a lot safer and it would tell me something about the so called intentions, if these are indeed true and valid, hehehe.:-) Sometimes, I think I was born a little too late, hehe. I have to admit, i do dream about a knight in shining armor to come in the future.. Waaah... :-) why am i doing some confesions here, Manong Tito..? Naan-annungan nak sa metten, hekhek! :-)

Not architectural design, Manong. That would be a bit too much for me. Hehehe. I meant graphic layout. Like in magazines. Before I got into publication, I had self-thought myself with Adobe Pagemaker and Photoshop, and my knowledge with these programs helped me a lot when I eventually got into publication. But I want to learn more (you know, to make my work more professional looking). I know what good designs are when I see them, but my technical knowledge in producing them myself is still not that good so I am trying to do something about it by learning other programs.

It’s my brother (the one next to me) who is an architect, Manong. He was my classmate from grade five until highschool and he had been the best in the arts and in math in our class. He and another brother paint, so I guess they got all the visual arts genes in the family. I, on the other hand, understand visual arts enough to appreciate them, but I get to learn more because of my classmate-brother. Whenever we see buildings and even designs, he would discuss with me the technical aspects that make them beautiful, or not so beautiful. Where the technical aspect is concerned, he lends me his eyes. But he doesn’t tinker much with computer assisted graphic designs. And because I am into computer graphics, I am the one making invitations, presentations, etc. in family gatherings. So I am kinda regarded as an artist too. Nyehehehehehe. But that’s only in the family. And without a computer, I am nothing (where arts is concerned, that is). Hahaha!

Really, Manong? You’re a registered architect? That’s great! Now I am wondering why you left the country. I hope you don’t mind me asking.

Yes, Manong. I have read and heard tales about how hard life in the US is. How it is most often necessary that workers would have to work really hard, spending most of their time juggling two or more jobs. Thank you for sharing that to us. :-)

Sherma Benosa
9/27/2007 8:36:45 PM

Sister! Nyehehehehe, how are you? Hmmmm, won’t comment on your ‘confession.’ Hehehehe… Inton agkitatanto lattan a pagestoriaenka. Hahahahaaha!

The part of the day I love most is sunset. Wherever I am, I would be gazing at the sky every time nga agsina ti sipnget ken lawag. I just can’t get enough of sunsets. I have loads and loads of sunset photos. (Napintas a pang-background iti presentation, but I am reserving them for my wedding, nyehehehe). I guess I would love sunrise too, but I just can’t get myself out of bed so early. Hekhek.

Our ancestral kubo in the barrio is nestled at the foot of a hill, and is surrounded with hills. Our closest neighbor was, and still is, 200 meters away, so we had a big playground when we were growing up. When we were kids, we would climb the hill and take our photos there. It was our favorite spot for taking photos because the view is magnificent. I was so excited when Mom and Dad decided to move to our ancestral kubo last year. Now, whenever I am home, I get to be so close to nature. And at night, while talking to my sweetie on the phone, I would climb up the window and sit there (agpukaw-pukaw ngamin ti signal idiay, ania met). I would be looking out, and up at the smiling stars. What a lovely sight!

On videography and photography:

Thank you so much, Manong Tito, that you like my shots. I know virtually nothing about videography besides aiming the camcorder at the subject and clicking it. Hehehe. Am so glad someone volunteered to online tutor me with windows movie maker. It's a lot easier than reading all the instructions, di ba? In fact, we started last night. We finished one. I am so happy about it.

It's video-editing I want to learn, Manong. Awan pulos ammok dita. My sweetie-friend said that would be our next project in our online tutoring. I am looking forward to it.

Could you also give me pointers, Manong? By the way, ania a program ti us-usarem?

As to photography, I am so blessed I got the chance to work with pros, because of the magazine. I learned a few things about photocomposition, like when you should center your subject, when not to center it. And how you should angle your camera, and stuff like that. I didn't learn about the technical aspect, though. Like lighting and blurring edges. My cam is always set at auto, because I am afraid I don't know how to manipulate it. Waaaaaa!

Yes Manong, you are right. These things (videography, photography) are a good libangan. Therapeutic, too. I interviewed a doctor last week for my article on common medical problems of the elderly. He said one of them is dementia. I asked him for things to prevent it, or to delay its onset, and he mentioned cognitive exercises like reading, playing chess, even cards and mahjong, being active in the community, and having hobbies like photography, painting, gardening, etc.

One of the things I like to learn is dressmaking. I was supposed to enroll in TESDA's dressmaking classes last summer, but classes have already started when I enquired about their program. Next summer na lang ulit.

Ah, so many things I would love to do. But yeah, hinay hinay lang. Hehehehe. Ta baka instead a ma-relax'ak, ma-stress'ak la ngarud met. Hehehehe!

Okidoki, adu unay nasaokon. Sowi, friends. I am like this when I have time. I enjoy talking and sharing things with friends.

See you!

Hi LJ,

Yeah, i think I unwittingly might have an-annong you. I better pekkel your head but you must bow your head for me to reach it. Actually, we have something in common and that is we are both good listeners - so people tend to open up a bit when talking to us. But you have something extra - you get friends easily because people feel comfortable talking to you.

You would have fit well in my generation and you would have enjoyed living in those times when I was young when courtship takes longer. A boy treats a girl like she is the most precious possession he can own. It takes years to win a Yes from the girl. I used to Chaperone my friends when they visit their loved ones. Somehow the girls' parents liked me (maybe because I was a shy guy that they think I'm harmless or maybe they thought I was the one courting their daughter) that they always let us in. I also used to write Love Letters for my friends to give to the girls. One friend, instead of flowers, he gave mangoes which I helped him pick by climbing the tree. So, during those days boys have to work hard and girls enjoy years of being Hard To Get.

If you were born earlier and stayed in the same place I stayed, because you are a good looking and likable girl, chances are that we've seen each other when a friend of mine visited you by tagging me along with him. And probably you've received one of the Love Letters I wrote.

Next month when there's a Full moon again, at around 5:30 in the morning here and 9:30 in the evening there (the clock would have shifted back to PST time here), probably you would be looking also like me at the moon and the stars above.

Hi Sherma,

I left the country instead of continuing my practice as an architect there because I thought I was going to starve there by being shy charging nothing or little for my services as architect. The ideal thing for an architect is to associate with rich people or those that can afford to build architecturally made houses. But I was some kind of a rebel in society that I was more at home being with the poor and the oppressed who could not afford to own new houses. i earned money as a designer/drafter of about 20 houses built mostly in Quezon City and some in White Plains with 2 separate Builders both brother and sister when I was still a student. I started as a Electrical/mechanical drafter here in the USA and then progressed to be a senior designer in PC boards. I went back designing houses when i built my own house in the Philippines in 2000. I also reworked houses for my wife and cousin.

I intended to go back there to reclaim my Philippine citizenship and thus my license to practice architecture but I got sick and got stuck here - probably for the rest of my life. I know based on what I saw when i visited the Philippines in 1999-2000, that architects are busy there now because many filipinos from abroad are building many architecturally made houses.

As for editing videos, my software is imovie for the Mac which I think is similar to windows movie maker. Editing involves Cut, Copy, Paste of video clips just like editing text. It's really simple and easy to learn. Try to get good steady video shots so you don't have to edit too much.

Dressmaking is good to learn, my wife knows it so I got no problem no dumakkel ti boksit ko because she can repair my pants easily.

You want to learn many things and that's good! It means you are at your prime, alive and kicking!

Hi LJ,

Yeah, i remember, the rains stay there from June to November so that in my Plan when I did not get sick yet - I'll stay there in December - February and take advantage of Spring like weather there and then come back here March - May when it's Spring here. As for me, Spring is when i rarely get sick so i't's my favorite season of the year. it would be nice to escape the summer heat here from June to September but then those are the months when there are storms and floods there that last until November - that's what i recall.

The rains come here late December, in january and part of February but they are like drizzles compared to rains there. The water drops vertically unlike there that it drops in a slanting position because of the winds, and the rain really hurts there. The rain here is so tamed that oftentimes in the past I did not even wear a hat or umbrella and just enjoyed myself getting a little wet.

But when i was there, I did not find the rains totally bad or annoying. Yeah, it's scary when there is heavy rain, with floods, heavy winds, lightning, thunder, but it's time also to stay at home, to lie down, sleep and rest after reading books and magazines and it's also an opportunity for the whole family to stay in one place, play some cards and other games or talk and relate stories to one another.

The rains during storms cause damages but they also cause tiny lives to sprout from the earth to give us food. After the floods, it's a delight to see those plants sprout and grow that gives us a sense of another beginning.

I know people will dis-agree but I truly believe in this song. Even companies that did wrong to me in one kind or another suffered not because of me but because they were used to doing unfair practices that eventually they suffered the consequences of their acts. All I did each time was to wish that the bad thing that was done to me will turn into a blessing; and my wish almost always came true and those companies either went out of business or became just minor players in their line of business. Somehow, the Creator just let things happen naturally (no siding with one in favor of the other, that's what I believe) and things will even up as time goes on.

I want to make clear that I'm not a Witch who wishes bad luck to others (although my wife accuses me of being one when she sees me talking to myself when i am composing a song).
