by jeff wilson 12.27.06, 6:58 am et

former u.s. pres. gerald ford was born leslie lynch king on july 14, 1913, in omaha, neb. his parents were divorced when he was less than a year old, and his mother returned to her parents in grand rapids, where she later married gerald r. ford sr. he adopted the boy and renamed him.

ford was a high school senior when he met his biological father. he was working in a greek restaurant, he recalled, when a man came in and stood watching.

"finally, he walked over and said, 'i'm your father,'" ford said. "well, that was quite a shock." but he wrote in his memoir that he broke down and cried that night and he was left with the image of "a carefree, well-to-do man who didn't really give a damn about the hopes and dreams of his firstborn son."

Hello Mr. Abad,
In 1994-95, I met Amanda Page in person... I was to write a press release about her movie with Jinggoy Estrada as I was the writer of their movie publicist... It was a dream meeting. I was a fan of Amanda Page, nevermind the "bold star" image, I like her candid wit and depth.

In that interview, I was able to dig deep unto her life story. She was born a bastard, and later, her mom married a foreigner. They settled in the US, at that time, they were residing at Long Island. Prior to that fateful vacation in the Philippines, she was a medical student, according to Kris (Aquino--- a third hand info), Amanda was even her mother's scholar and Kris apparently acknolwedged Amanda was an above average student (matalino). Also, Amanda was a good dancer. Tap dancing was her forte and she shared that she and a friend in the US even set up their own dance school.
And then, she had a vacation in Isabela, Pilipinas kong mahal... Where she met a basketball player, who introduced her to a talent scout or something that eventually paved the way to her movie career...

Then, she was able to save some money from her Philippine career. And when she was back in the US, her biological father called her up, and they were able to set up a meeting when she went to California.

At that time, Amanda had been eyeing a car and was either available only in California / or has a better price in the area as compared to Long Island... So, she asked her biological dad to buy the car for her, but of course, with her hard-earned money...

And then, Amanda returned to NY. But days went by, until it became an agonizing wait. When she finaly mustered to confront her bio-dad, the money has gone kaput, and she ended her narrative with "They blood is thicker than water. But I'd say money is thicker than blood!"

Sorry for this out-of-topic post, but I never had the chance to write about this at all because I was limited to writing about just the good stuff... for box office target.
